February Construction Update

Since work began on the Bank Intercounty Drain in 2025, over 1.5 miles of pipe have been installed and 40 structures set. Structures are either concrete manholes or catch basins that the storm sewer pipes are connected to.

Continue reading for updates on each construction division.

Abatement and Demolition

Abatement and demolition are nearly complete on the former school, located at 4300 W. Saginaw Highway. The inside of the building is completely stripped and gutted. Once the building is demolished, the location will become the site of a large stormwater detention pond.

Stormwater Detention Ponds

Excavation for the stormwater detention pond is still in progress as weather permits. Once weather conditions are more favorable, hauling of dirt from the site will increase.

Outlet Storm Sewer Replacement

The contractor is currently installing the main storm sewer line in the backyards of properties on Clark Road. They are approaching the connection structure at the stormwater detention pond (location of the former school).

Neighborhood Storm Sewer Pipe Replacement

Contractors look forward to resuming work near Hume and St. Joseph Highway in the spring when weather conditions are more favorable. Currently, the contractor is installing storm sewer pipe near the Hume and Otis intersection.

Property owners along Hume and Otis will maintain access to their houses throughout the stormwater pipe installation process on the street. If there are any residents with questions regarding access, please let us know.
