October Construction Update
Abatement and Demolition
The process of removing asbestos from the roof and flooring of the former school, located at 4300 W. Saginaw Highway, continues. Demolition of one of the building sections is planned for mid-November.
Stormwater Detention Ponds
Crews continue to make steady progress on excavating the future stormwater detention pond, removing an average of nearly 100 truckloads of soil each day. To date, approximately 25 percent of the pond has been excavated. As shown in the photo below, the pond is beginning to take shape. Once complete, it will temporarily hold excess runoff during heavy rain events and gradually release the water into the Grand River.
Outlet Storm Sewer Replacement
Construction has concluded on W. Willow Highway! Crews have successfully completed:
Removal, installation, and testing of the water main
Replacement of storm sewer pipes
Full roadway reconstruction
With work on W. Willow Highway complete, construction has now shifted to E. Thomas L. Parkway. Construction is primarily taking place in the backyards of properties between W. Willow Highway and Elizabeth Road.
Neighborhood Storm Sewer Replacement
Crews continue installing a 48-inch storm sewer pipe approximately 20 feet below Hume Boulevard (pictured left). Following the completion of storm sewer work on Dibble Avenue, road crews have begun rebuilding Dibble Avenue near the Michigan Avenue intersection. Work is progressing southward, where crews are installing culverts and repairing driveways in preparation for road repaving.

Crews will provide property owners impacted by utility disruptions with a minimum of two days' notice by going door-to-door. If no one answers, they will leave a Bank ICD doorhanger with additional information.
The Bank ICD construction map is continually updated to show road closures, traffic patterns and construction zones. Visit the map for the most up-to-date information.
Safety First
“Local Traffic Only”
If you see a sign that says "Road Closed Local Traffic Only" it means that the road is closed to through traffic, but vehicles that need to access a destination on that specific road are permitted to enter (i.e., residents who live there or visitors to a property or business).
We understand road closures and construction activity can be frustrating and inconvenient, but please follow posted detour signs and speed limits for your safety and the safety of workers.
