June Construction Update
The Bank ICD drainage district will replace nearly eight miles of storm sewer in Eaton and Ingham counties and construct three stormwater detention ponds to reduce the frequency, depth and duration of flooding along the drain in Delta and Lansing townships. The project began this month and is estimated to conclude in 2030.
We will provide regular construction updates to keep the community and property owners informed.
Abatement, Demolition and Stormwater Detention Ponds
Abatement started at the property located at 4300 W. Saginaw Highway. At the conclusion of abatement, demolition of the building and excavation of the site will begin. This will be the location of the largest of three new stormwater detention ponds.
Stormwater detention ponds temporarily store excess stormwater runoff and release it slowly, preventing downstream flooding and slowing the rate of water flow during and after storm events.
Demolition of three houses owned by the drainage district on East and West Thomas L. Parkway will take place within the next few weeks.
Traffic alert: There will be increased truck and construction vehicle traffic on W. Saginaw Highway.
Outlet Storm Sewer Replacement
Work begins on the 60-inch diameter storm sewer outlet from the detention pond on 4300 W. Saginaw Highway to the Grand River on July 7th. Crews will begin at the river and N. Waverly Road and progress south on Waverly.
Utility impacts: There will be periodic non-emergency water main shut-offs while crews place a temporary water main. Crews will provide impacted property owners with a minimum of two days' notice by going door-to-door. If no one answers, they will leave a Bank ICD doorhanger with additional information.
Traffic alert: N. Waverly Road will narrow to one lane and there will be increased truck and construction vehicle traffic.
Storm Sewer Replacements
Starting at the intersection of S. Dibble Ave. and W. Michigan Ave., and moving south towards St. Joe Highway, crews will begin to replace various smaller-diameter storm sewer drains. This work will tentatively start on July 7th.
Traffic alert: S. Dibble Ave. will only be open to local traffic. Crews will go door-to-door in the area to ensure property owners can access their driveways.
Safety First
For the safety of yourself and our construction workers please stay clear of construction equipment and keep your distance from active construction sites.
