August Construction Update
Did you know there's a project map on our website that shows active, upcoming and future construction areas? Check out the map to see when you can expect work to take place within the drainage district. The map also shows road closures, detours, and which parcels are located within the Bank ICD district.
Stormwater Detention Ponds
Excavation of the stormwater detention pond located at 4300 W. Saginaw Hwy continues. In the pictures below, you can see the pond starting to take shape. The other two stormwater detention ponds will be located on Waverly Rd. Start dates for those are contingent upon contractors completing other work.
We have excavated and hauled nearly 200,000 cubic yards of dirt. If the dirt were spread across an American football field, it would form a giant pile that towers 54 feet high.
Outlet Storm Sewer Replacement
Restoration of Waverly Rd. is ongoing after the contractor finished installing new water main. Barton Rd. and Mar Moor Dr. will be reconstructed and paved this month.
Saginaw Highway Box Sewer
Crews continued installing the 8'x6' box sewer down Saginaw Highway, reaching Dibble Ave. The photos below show the process of constructing a concrete structure around an existing sanitary main. The process starts with welding casing around the pipe and ends with pouring concrete into the structure wall forms.
Neighborhood Storm Sewer Pipe Replacement
The contractor has been off-site the last few weeks and will return when work permits.
Traffic Alert
TRAFFIC ALERT
Saginaw Hwy Lane Closures
Saginaw Hwy lane closures will continue down the middle of the street. Inside the work zone, there will be one lane open to eastbound traffic and one for westbound traffic. There is an alternate route posted along 496 from the I-69 overpass on Saginaw to the Cedar/Larch exit off of 496.
Safety First: Slow Down in Construction Zones
When you speed in a construction zone, it's more than just a ticket on the line. Speeding in a construction zone increases the risk of collisions, loss of vehicle control and accidents involving workers. Narrow lanes, sudden stops and construction debris leave drivers with less reaction time while workers have fewer protective barriers. Follow all posted speed limit signs to protect yourself and others.
